My University Work: Second Year
A few second year pieces -
Editorial Piece - to produce an illlustration to accompany a written article about a man who was trying to shut out all the sound and find the perfect way to shut out all background sound.
'Nucleur Family' - This project consisted of creating three 'families' that had derived from drawing an array of single characters made up from merely a 'scribble' on the page. We then had to develop our favourite 'family' and create a story or a simple picture book containing the Mother,Father,Son and Daughter within the chosen family drawing. The story/picture book would include two selected scenario topics, I chose the Seaside and a Picnic. This was to be made into a handmade small, square, concertina book.
'Aspects of Love' - Editorial Project - This was to illustrate an article about how parents react to their children leaving home for university. There were many options to pick out of the text-many of which i came up with ideas for- including the literal view of 'flying the nest', the negative way parents react for example, not knowing what to do with themselves or how to structure their lives when they're not organising around their children. But i opted for the positive idea of 'love' and togetherness rather than a negative seperation, as it was for an older readership i felt it would be acceptable.
'Chad Varah House' project - We had to observe the building where we study and take sketches throughout the entire building and covering areas we may not have seen before. We then had to make two final paintings or drawings both of A1 size, one to illustrate a Disteria atmosphere and one to illustrate a atmosphere.
'American to Polish Movie Poster' - This project we had to research into Polish movie posters and then create a poster of our own for a popular american movie and use the concepts that Polish movie posters use. I chose the classic Kill Bill movie starring Uma Thurman.

My University Work : First Year
I thought I would begin with posting up some pieces of my work through university..
Some first year work-
This piece was actually from one of our first projects in my first year of University. We had to create three characters that had an 'occupation' each from a list of choices. This character was a ninja-spy Chameleon.
This image was part of a project where we had to create our own images from a personal selection of small objects. This was originally a metallic 3-D brooch.
'FM Radio Hits the Town' - This project was our first Editorial project. It was to create an illustration to accompany a written piece about FM radio being available and accessible whilst driving about.
'Allotment' piece - This was our Second Editorial project. It was to create an illustration to accompany a written piece about how plots that would otherwise be used for vegetable patches and gardens are being bought only to have multiple duplicates housing estates built upon them.
'Scientists Able to Read People's Minds' - This was our Third Editorial project. It was to create two illustrations to accompany a two page written piece (pictured above) about scientists experimenting how to figure out what people are thinking through science.
The Project above is a First year project given to produce a book loosely based on the theme 'Holes'. I chose to use both the physical aspect of holes (with cut outs and button holes) and words that describe or visualise holes whilst also dipping into the aspects of holes in memory and life. I have used collage throughout.
